
Gadchiroli Aug. 21 (District Correspondent) The philosophy and teachings of Sant Tukaram Maharaj are based on the fundamental values of human life. The messages in his Abhangs are as relevant today as they were in his time. These values give direction to the society even in today’s competitive and complex world.
This was stated by well-known thinker Dr. Gangadhar Banbare, while delivering a lecture on the topic “Timelessness of Saint Tukaram” was organized by the Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj Study Centre of Gondwana University auditorium of the university recently.
. The program was chaired by Vice Chancellor Dr. Prashant Bokare, while Mr. Sudhakar Adbale, MLC was the inaugurator. Pro-VC Dr. Shriram Kawle, Registrar Dr. Anil Hirekhan, Dean of of Anthropology Dr. Shyam Khandare, Dr. Dilip Chaudhari, Dr. Narendra Arekar, members of the Advisory Committee, Dr. Hemraj Nikhade were prominently present.
Mr. Banbare, in his thought-provoking speech further said that the thoughts of Tukaram Maharaj are beyond caste and religion. The tradition of saints has emerged to remove inequalities in society, and contemplation of human values is the tradition of saints. He explained how Tukaram’s thoughts are useful to the society by giving many examples of his Abhangas.
Mr. Adbale appreciated the university for its various initiatives and hoped it will progress further. Dr. Bokare said the university will be organizing such activities for the benefit of the students and academicians.
Dr. Dilip Chaudhary explained the role of the and said that books will be made available for research on Sant Tukaram and that an international conference will be organized in the future. The program was conducted by Dr. Shilpa Athawale and the vote of thanks was given by Dr. Hemraj Nikhade.
