Gadchiroli March 19 (District Correspondent) A remarkable medical achievement was recently accomplished at Lloyds Kali Ammal Memorial Hospital, (LKAMH) Hedri, where a patient from Adenge village successfully underwent a series of complex surgical procedures to restore normal digestion.

The patient, admitted in August 2024 with severe abdominal pain, vomiting and a complete digestive tract blockage, had a history of emergency surgery in 2012, during which a significant portion of the large intestine was removed due to an obstruction.

Faced with a new blockage, an emergency surgery was performed at Lloyds Kali Ammal Memorial Hospital to relieve the obstruction. Six days later, a second procedure was conducted to connect the small and large intestines to facilitate digestion through an external bag. This interim solution allowed the digestive system to heal before the final corrective surgery.

In February 2025, the third and final procedure successfully restored the natural digestion process and fully reconnecting the intestines. The intricate nature of these surgeries required meticulous planning, surgical precision, and post-operative care, demonstrating the hospital’s advanced medical capabilities.

The unwavering resilience of the 60-year-old patient and the constant support, encouragement, care and cooperation of family members, through the entire period, played a crucial role in the recovery process.

Under the leadership of the Managing Director of Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited B. Prabhakaran and led by an experienced and skilled team of doctors and medical staff, the multidisciplinary effort ensured the patient’s smooth recovery.

LKAMH remains committed to delivering high-quality healthcare, bringing specialized treatment and compassionate care to an underserved region.
