Gadchiroli Dec. 21 (District Correspondent) Wamandada Kardak, a democrat, poet and a talented activist has made a great contribution to the Ambedkar movement through his songs. The songs and ghazals written by him have been working to enlighten the society, and nationalism is visible in his overall literature, said senior thinker, writer, poet Prof. Dr. Ravichandra Hadsankar.

He was speaking at the inauguration of Lokkavi Vamandada Kardak Study Centre started at Gondwana University, the other day. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shriram Kawale was in the chair. Registrar Dr. Anil Hirekhan, proposer of the Study Centre and senate member Dr. Dilip Chaudhari, members Dr. Sagar Jadhav, Dr. Isadas Bhadke, Dr. Keshav Mendhe, Aniruddha Wankar, Coordinator Prof. Rohit Bapu Kamble were prominently present.

Hadsankar further said, Wamandada Kardak always wrote songs for the benefit of humanity. He had created a new consciousness in the Ambedkarite movement through his songs. He has done an important job of bringing Babasaheb’s thoughts and movement to every household through his powerful voice and capable writing. The study of his published and unpublished literature through the Study Centre will be a priceless treasure, he asserted.

Dr. Shriram Kawle said, Wamandada Kardak, despite not knowing the alphabet, worked tirelessly and composed more than ten thousand songs on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, giving great strength to the Ambedkarite movement. It is necessary for the Study Centre to work with a view to taking his work not only to the country but also to the world level.

Mr. Sagar Jadhav also expressed his views on this occasion. Prof. Rohit Bapu Kamble welcomed the guests, Dr. Dilip Chaudhary made an introductory speech, Dr. Hemraj Nikhade conducted the programme and vote of thanks was given by Dr. Anil Hirekhan.

Under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Dr. Prashant Bokare, Prof. Chaitanya Shinkhede, Prof. Amol Chavan, Dr. Hemraj Nikhade, Shrirang Kawle, Nita Kannake took pains for the success of the programme.

On this occasion, a large number of professors, research students, non-teaching staff and students of the university were present.
