Mahatma Phule’s thoughts can bring about change in society, says Madavi.

Gadchiroli Nov. 30 (District Correspondent) There will be transformation in the society if women bring about change in themselves on the lines of the principles taught by Mahatma Jyotiba Fule and Krantijyoti Savitrimai Fule, said Ms. Kavita Madavi, social worker while speaking at the ‘Teahers Day programme to mark the death anniversary of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule here the other day.

The programme was organized by the Gadchiroli Zilla Mali Samaj Sanghatana at Phule Dampatya Pratishthan here. Mr. Devrao Mohurle, District President of the Sangathana presided over the programme while Dr. Narendra Arekar, well known speaker, Prof. Sanjay Lengure from Tumsar, Fulchand Gurnule, Advisor of Mali Samaj Sangathana were prominently present as the chief guests.

Ms. Madavi further said Savitrimai Fule’s thoughts and work, her compassion and sacrifice towards society, especially towards women was really great that can’t be described in few words. Women should bring about the changes within themselves as expected by Savitrimai. Positive change in the society is possible and it is entirely in the hands of women. Women should be prepared for that, she appealed.

Teachers should not be limited to the planned curriculum but should teach in the role of social teachers in a changing context and create social awareness,” said Prof. Sanjay Lengure in his inaugural address.

While reviewing the diverse work of Mahatma Phule, Dr. Narendra Arekar said that respecting the public sentiment, pressure should be built up on the government to observe the death anniversary of Mhatma Jyotiba fule as Teachers Day at the government level to pay respects to the memory of the great social reformer.

Mr. Keshav Gurnule of Shrishti Foundation Gadchiroli was honoured with the ‘Social Teacher Award’ for his outstanding social work. The inspiring song on Mahatma Phule sung by Vijay Gurnule Sindewahi overwhelmed the atmosphere. The program was introduced by Mr.  Rajendra Ade, Purushottam Lengure conducted the programme and Narendra Nikode proposed the vote of thanks.

On this occasion, a large number of people from various segments of society from across the district and neighbouring districts of Chandrapur, Gondia, Bhandara etc. were present. The office bearers and activists of the organization in every taluka worked hard to make the program a success.
