Gadchiroli Aug. 22 (District Correspondent) The death anniversary of well-known social worker Dr. Narendra Dabholkar was observed as “Martydom Day’ by Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti (MANS) here the other day.
A Nirbhay Morning Walk was organized from Indira Gandhi Chowk in the city to Lanzeda after garlanding the portrait of Dr. Narendra Dabholkar. The rally was concluded at Lanzela Square.
Advisor of MANS Pandit Pudke of Maha Annis presided while Mr. Devaji Sontakke, Prof. Sesharao Yelekar of OBC Parishad, Mr. Dhakate, Retired Extension Officer District Working President Vitthalrao Kothare were present. The guests threw light on the life and work of Dr. Dabholkar.
Mr. Lahuji Ramteke made an introductory speech, Vilas Nimborkar conducted the programme and vote of thanks was given by Purushottam Thackere. Ms. Alkatai Gurnule, Mahananda Nimbokar, Mala Rohankar, Anjali Kothare, Pratiksha Kodape, Govindrao Brahmanwade, Prof. Vilas Parkhi, Haridas Kotarange, Damodar Upparwar, Upendra Rohankar were also present.
In the second session was observed as Scientific Approach Awareness Day. Mr. Lahuji Ramteke, President of the city branch presided while, Mr. Sanjay Tiple, journalist, Vilas Nimborkar, State Collaborator of Maha Annis, Vitthalrao Kothare, Executive President, Ms. Sudhatai Chaudhari were present as the chief guests.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Tipale said that the work of eradicating superstition is very important. There is a need for youths in this work, so efforts should be made to attract young men and women in this organization. If the government gives some remuneration to the youths who spend their time for this work, they will be able to work more vigourously, he stated.
The other guests also also gave valuable guidance on the occasion and highlighted the sacrifice of late Dr. Dabholkar for the work of superstition eradication. Mr. Purushottam Thackere presented the welcome song. Mr. Haridas Kotarange conducted the programme by Mr. Upendra Rohankar conducted the programme and vote of thanks was done by Shabbir Shaikh.
Mr. Damodhar Upparwar, Mahananda Nimborkar, Prof. Vilas Parkhi, Uddhav Bangre, Sudhakar Dudhbawre, Umaji Khewle, Purushottam Khewle, Phulchand Gurnule and others were present in the program.
