Gadchiroli June 15 (District Correspondent) The newly elected Member of Parliament from Gadchiroli Chimur Lok Sabha Dr. Namdeo kirsan has instructed the Archaeology Department authorities to immediately start the restoration work of the Markanda Temple, which is known as the Kashi of Vidarbha.
He gave these directives in a meeting that was held in the premises of the Markanda Temple the other day.
Sant Muralidhar Maharaj of Markanda had gone on a fast to demand the completion of the renovation of Markandeshwar Temple before the election. However, his fast was withdrawn following the assurance of the authorities. But no satisfactory restoration was made till date. As soon as this information was brought to the attention of the newly elected MP Dr. Namdev Kirsan, the MP immediately rushed to the temple and organized a review meeting in the presence of the officers of the Archaeology Department and discussed the issue in detail. He gave instructions to start the restoration work immediately.
Former MP Marotrao Kowase, District President of Congress Mahendra Brahmanwade, Sant Muralidhar Maharaj, Maharashtra Youth Congress Secretary Vishwajit Kovase, Rajesh Thakur, municipal councilor Nitin Vailalwar, Vice President Chandrakant Burande, Vaibhav Bhiwapure, Kavita Bhagat, Sumedh Ture, Anil Kothare, Ashok Porediwanr, Congress Taluka President Pramod Bhagat, Sanjay Vadettiwar, Rajinikanth Motghare, Rupesh Tikle were present in this meeting.
Superintendent of Archaeology Department of India Arun Mallik, Conservation Assistant Shubham Kore were also present. The officers sought one month’s period for starting the work. Dr. Kirsan agreed to it and said that no further time limit will be extended in the matter as the issue is very important and related to the lakhs of devotees.
