Various issues discussed in OBC Mahasangha meeting.

Gadchiroli May 29 (District Correspondent) A meeting Rashtriya OBC Mahasangha was held at Kamal Keshav Sabhagriha here on Tuesday.

National President of the Mahasangha Dr. Babanrao Taiwade presided over the meeting while General Secretary Sachin Rajurkar, Vice President Prof. Sheshrao Yelekar, joint Secretary Sharad Wankhede, Regional Vice President Mahendra Brahmanwade, District President Dadaji Choudhari, Vice President Prof. Devanand Kamdi, Vidarbha women’s organizer Sangeeta Navghade were prominently present on the stage.

In this meeting various important issues relating to OBCs were discussed in detail. This included caste wise census should be conducted,  separate ministry for OBCs be opened at the centre, unconstitutional condition of creamy layer imposed on OBCs should be immediately revoked, the income limit of creamy layer be raised to Rs 20 lakh, condition of 50% reservation should be abolished, Swaminathan Commission,  recommendations of Mandal Commission and Nachippan Commission should be implemented, OBC category should be included in Atrocities Act and other state and central level demands should be approved.

Ms. Santoshi Sutrapawar was appointed as the President of the Women’s unit and Budhatai Porte as the Secretary. Mr. Ramakrishna Tajne was appointed as the Working President of OBC Mahasangha district branch, Prof. Devanand Kamdi as Vice President, Suresh Bhandekar as Secretary, Prabhakar Bhagadkar, Shankar Chaudhary as District Organizers. Former Women District President Ms. Sangeeta Navghade was appointed as Vidarbha Organizer.

The Executive Committee of the District Youth Federation under the leadership of Rahul Bhandekar was announced and all of them were given appointment letters at the hands of Dr. Babanrao Taywade. It was decided to attended the national convention of the Mahasangha to be held at Amritsar in Punjab on Aug. 7 next in large numbers.

General Secretary of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress committee Dr. Namdeo Kirsan also visited the meeting and extended his support to the OBC demands assuring the leaders to raise his voice for them.

Prof. Sesharao Yelekar made an introductory speech, Ramakrishna Tajne conducted the programme and vote of thanks was given by Santoshi Sutrapawar.
