Gadchiroli May 28 (District Correspondent) The death anniversary of Mata Ramai was organized by Maharashtra Superstition Eradication Committee at Gram Panchayat Bhawan Navegaon -Murkhada near here the other day.
Gram Panchayat Sarpanch Dashrath Chandekar presided over the programme while Deputy Sarpanch Rajendra Khangar, member Umaji Khewle, Maha Annis State Co-ordinator Mr. Vilas Nimbokar, District Working President Vitthalrao Kothare, District Principal Secretary Purushottam Thakere, Women Representative Sudhatai Chaudhari were prominently present as the guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Nimbokar said that the society can not forget the sacrifices made by Mai Ramai. Behind the great success of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architects of the constitution, there is a great contribution of Mai Ramai. She stood behind Babasaheb like the moon, killing her own desires and passions, enduring many hardships in the world and digesting many sorrows, he stated.
Mr. Chandekar, while delivering the presidential speech paid his respects to the memory of Mai Ramai. He appreciated the work of Maharashtra Superstition Eradication Committee and said that it is not an organization to educate people about superstitions and evil customs, customs and traditions prevailing in the society, but it has been doing good social work by taking up various useful activities.
The other guests also spoke on the occasion and mentioned the sacrifice of Mai Ramai and her important role in the life of Dr. Ambedkar. Mr. Haridas Kotrange conducted the programme and Mr. Sukhdev Jengthe proposed the vote of thanks.
A large number of villagers and workers of ANS including Uddhav Khewle, Ravindra Nagapure, Amit Urade, Pundalik Gordwar, Sushma Ramteke, Meena Kokode, Brahmanand Rathod, Anil Devtale, Dhanraj Khewle, Gyan Bahadur Thapa attended the programme.
