
Gadchiroli Aug. 15 (District Correspondent) On the eve of Independence Day, a total of 7 officers and officials of the Gadchiroli Police have been awarded Police Gallantry Medals by the President of India.
The Gadchiroli Police Force has received a total of 3 Shaurya Chakras, 210 Police Gallantry Medals and 8 Medals for Meritorious Service in the last five years. Police officers and officials who have performed excellently in the police force or other armed forces across the country are honoured by the government on the occasion of Independence Day.
The police officials who have been declared the police gallantry medals are- Assistant Police Inspector Netaji Sukhdev Bandgar, ASI Manohar Kotla Mahaka, Driver Police Head constable Manohar Lachma Pendam, Police Constables Prakash Ishwar Kannake, Atul Satyanarayan Yegolpawar, Hidayat Sadullah Khan, Suresh Lingaji Telami (posthumously).
In the year 2017, while the C-60 squad was returning to Bhamragadh from Kothi in a vehicle, the Maoists had attacked the police squads by detonating a landmine. The police officers and officials countered this cowardly attack of the Maoists with prudence and great courage. They had responded to the intense firing of the Maoists while protecting the injured and trapped police personnel as well as themselves.
In recognition of the performance of all the above officers and personnel during the said landmine blast, the President’s Police Gallantry Medal has been announced. On this occasion, the Police Officers and Personnel who received the President’s Police Gallantry Medal were appreciated by the Superintendent of Police Mr. Nilotpal on behalf of the Gadchiroli Police Force and wished them well for their further service.
