Gadchiroli June 12 (District Correspondent) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President Harshvardhan Sapkal launched scathing attack on Prime minister Narendra Modi and state chief minister Devendra Fadnavis stating that they have not fulfilled any of the promises made to the people. They never do what they say. These leaders are power-hungry person and not fir to remain in power.
Today, a torch march and a farmers’ justice march was taken out in Gadchiroli under the leadership of state president Sapkal. Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar, MP Namdev Kirsan, MP Pratibhatai Dhanorkar, AICC secretary Kunal Chaudhari, former minister Anis Ahmed, MLc Abhijit Vanjari, former MLA Subhash Dhote, District Congress president Mahendra Brahmanwade, along with a large number of Congress office bearers and activists were present on this occasion.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Sapkal further said that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis keeps claiming that he constantly visits Gadchiroli, but he does not come for the development of Gadchiroli but to fill his own pockets with the cream obtained from the iron ore mine of Surjagad. In the name of making Gadchiroli steel hub, farmers, tribals, agricultural labourers and locals are being targeted. In order not to oppose the Surjagad mine, students living in the hostel are being asked to write that they will not oppose the mine and will not participate in the march. If news is published against the industry, action is taken, he alleged.
Mumbai used to belong to Marathi people, hard workers, mill workers, but today in Mumbai, you have to look for Marathi people with binoculars, the same situation is going to happen in Gadchiroli. Pollution will increase, our culture will be threatened and due to this quarry, local people will be deported and people from other states will live in more places, he cautioned.
Mr. Wadettiwar said that the BJP coalition government is trying to rob Maharashtra. It is ignoring the farmers. The maximum number of farmer suicides are happening in Maharashtra. They are not giving loan waivers, why did they make announcements if there was no money for loan waivers, he asked. The government, which is dishonest with the farmers, will have to be taught a lesson. The ruling leaders betrayed their beloved sisters, they announced to give Rs 2100 but now it has become difficult to get even Rs 1500, they are handing over Rs 500. No matter how much the government says, their plan is to close the Ladki Bahin scheme. The BJP coalition government has cheated the farmers, said Wadettiwar.
This afternoon, an Air India plane going from Ahmedabad to London crashed, causing a terrible accident. There were 242 passengers and crew members on board this plane.
