Gadchiroli, June 16 (District Correspondent) Pursuing higher education and building a career is relatively easy when one has access to urban facilities. But achieving the dream of becoming a doctor from one of Maharashtra’s most backward tribal regions is a truly commendable. One Devdas from Karmapalli, Saniya from Mallampodur, and Gurudas from Dubbaguda, all from the remote Bhamragad taluka of the district have made this dream come true.
In the NEET results declared on June 14, these three students showcased their brilliance. Devdas Wachami scored 472 marks, Saniya Dhurve secured 364 and Gurudas Michha scored 348 marks.
Saniya and Gurudas completed their schooling under the Tribal Development Department’s model schools — Global English Medium School, Allapalli and Dnyandeep High School, Sironcha respectively. All three students received NEET coaching from Ulgulan in Dharashiv.
The students were felicitated by the Integrated Tribal Development Project, Bhamragad, at their homes. Project Officer Naman Goyal personally interacted with Saniya and asked where she wished to serve in the future. Saniya said she wanted to serve her own village, as no doctor is willing to work there. Mr. Goyal assured full administrative support to all three students for their future. Assistant Project Officer Roshna Chavan visited Devdas and Gurudas in their villages, who too expressed the same desire to serve their community.
The parents of all three students were also honoured with shawls and coconuts in recognition of their support. Notably, Devdas and Gurudas come from small farming families, while Saniya’s father works as a truck driver at the Surjagad project. Despite such challenging economic conditions, their remarkable success stands as a beacon of hope.
The achievement of these Madia tribal students from one of the most backward areas is a milestone and an inspiration for future generations. Their journey proves that even in the remotest corners, dreams can take flight with determination and guidance.
