Gadchiroli Dec. 14 (District Correspondent) The three-day project-level sports meet of the Integrated Tribal Development Project Gadchiroli began with much enthusiasm at Archery Training Centre on Semana Bypass Road here on Friday.
The sports meet was inaugurated at the hands of former MLA Dr. Namdev Usendi by lighting the sports flame. The chief guests of the program were Project Officer in Charge Waheed Sheikh, Assistant Project Officer Dhanraj Dable, Anil Somankar, Dr. Prabhu Sadamwar, Sudhakar Gaurkar, Assistant Research Officer Gajanan Badalamwar, Headmistress Vandana Mahalle, Principal Parashuram Wangdhare were prominently present.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Usendi said, tribal players are skilled in sports. They should focus on education along with sports and achieve high goals. The real skill lies in overcoming adverse situations and making progress. He appealed to teachers to encourage the students for a bright future along with teaching in ashram schools.
During the program, girls from Government English Medium Ashram School performed a sports motivational dance. The inaugural volleyball match for 19-year-old boys was held between Karwafa and Bhadbhidi teams. Karwafa team won the match.
A total of 1,100 players from 41 ashram schools, 24 government and 17 aided, from five beats of Karwafa, Bhadbhidi, Sode, Angara and Korchi, are participating in the meet. Team and individual games are being organized in the age groups of 14, 17 and 19 years. The latent sports qualities of tribal students will be showcased through these competitions.
Prof. Ajay Jadhav administered the oath to the participating players and umpires. The program was introduced by Principal Vandana Mahalle. Mr. Santosh Kannake conducted the programme and also proposed the vote of thanks.
Publicity head Sudhir Shende, Ajay Akhade, Bhudev Das, Hemant Chudhari, Urmila Sidam, Roshan Kumre, Chandrashekhar Sidam, Project Sports Coordinator Satish Pawar, Sports Coordinator Pramila Dahagaonkar were also present on the occasion.
Mr. Subhash Lande, Ravikant Pipere, Baliram Jayabhaye, Dharmendra Kusram, Ashish Dabale, Mohan Marbate, Nilay Gade, Ashok Parteki, Anand Bahirewar, Netaji Gawad, Purushottam Bakhar, Mahesh Borewar, Anil Sahare, Jagjivan Shelokar, Nitin Chambulwar, Vinayak Kshirsagar and others worked for the success of the programme.
